With peak travel season just around the corner in the northern hemisphere, the holiday booking portal, Travelocity, has announced a new concierge service free to any customer who books a dynamic flight + hotel vacation package (note: not available to international customers).
No doubt Travelocity is feeling a bit of competition from such companies as Airbnb, Luxury Retreat and other like sites who already offer assistance to its users when booking a holiday rental. Airbnb launched a concierge service back in September of 2011, which it then enhanced with additional local information through its Neighborhoods offering, launched in November of last year.
Travelocity’s concierge service should help sway the decision of those users who compare prices across different travel websites before finally booking their travel, with suggestions and recommendations of local activities enticing them, since prices are so similar across the board on all online travel sites.
"This new benefit for Travelocity customers enhances the value of our vacation package offering and could come in handy on any trip," said Simon Bramley , vice president & general manager transportation, vacation packages, and cruises, Travelocity. "Our customers already save hundreds of dollars on average when booking any flight and any hotel together."
The company said that, in addition to saving money, booking a vacation package on Travelocity allows travelers the flexibility to customize flight and hotel selections and the convenience of booking them together in a single transaction.
How the concierge service works:
After a Travelocity customer completes a vacation package booking, he/she will receive a special phone number, via email, for the concierge service. To take advantage of the service before, during and/or up to two days after the trip, the customer needs only to call the number. Services offered with the concierge service include:
