Property Portal Watch had the privilege of interviewing Mr. Sudhir Pai, the Business Head of MagicBricks.com.

Sudhir Pai, is the Business Head for MagicBricks.com, India’s No. 1 Property site and the online real estate portal from Times Business Solutions Limited.
With 13 years of management experience, Sudhir brings rich, multi-industry exposure having worked across the FMCG, Medical Electronics, Banking & Internet sectors.
Prior to his current role, as National Head of Sales for TimesJobs.com, Sudhir made significant contributions towards expanding TimesJobs.com’s strong national footprint across all key industry segments.
Sudhir has been with the organisation for over 5 years and handled several portfolios, starting as the Regional Manager for South. Later, as the Sales Head -Enterprise Clients, Sudhir redefined the selling & servicing processes for Key Clients and drove significant big-ticket acquisitions, before moving onto his role as National Sales Head.
PPW: Approximately how many listings do you have now?
SP: We have over 400K active* listings on MB now (a listing stays active for 60 days and then needs to be refreshed by the user or it is deactivated).
PPW: What is your monthly unique visitor average (or, for new portals, your projected average)?
SP: Unique visitors have been showing a consistent growth on MagicBricks.com. As per GA data, unique visitors on MB exceed 2.1 Million as of January 2013.
PPW: If you have an email newsletter or other subscription service for house hunters, how many people subscribe?
SP: We offer a service called as “MagicAlerts” to keep our users updated on properties that would match their property search needs; and a separate service called “Property Pulse” to keep them updated of market developments. There are also separate mailer services aimed at property owners/sellers.
PPW: What does your portal offer property hunters in terms of property search? Are there any special features they can use?
SP: We keep consumer needs as the cornerstone of our product development strategy.
Foremost, we provide the widest choice of property listings to users.
Besides this ample choice of listings, we offer also offer a very strong “advice” platform through special services & features to enable our users to understand the market and its trends and thereby make an intelligent property decision.
In addition, we are constantly improving the quality of listings as well as the amount of locality & listing information that’s made available to users.

PPW: What has been the feedback on the new marketing campaign your company is currently running?
SP: We have received very positive feedback from our users for our new campaign. While it is early days yet, we are already seeing a healthy jump in both traffic and new users on our site.
Running an integrated campaign across TV, Print, Online as well as Radio – the communications goals are being better delivered with this approach.
PPW: How long will the campaign run and will there be other instalments?
SP: The category is growing fast but remains under-penetrated. We will continue to invest in brand building activities to drive brand preference and to bring in new users on MB.
PPW: What were some of the other concepts your company considered when creating the new campaign?
SP: Yes, we considered several alternatives before zeroing down on the current creative route. We’ve been working on the concept for more than 3 months. The current route matched the strategic marketing goals that we had identified and that’s why we chose to use the current concept. More details are available in the Press Release.
PPW: What else can we expect from MagicBricks.com this year?
SP: We plan to consolidate and grow the leadership position we have in India. Towards this, we will launch several features and services aimed at different user segments on our site; and also aimed at providing better services at our developer and broker community on MagicBricks.com.
