ReviewMyPad.co.uk, launched in April 2013 to enable residents, house hunters and sellers to feedback and share their experiences of UK living and its property market.
Featuring video reviews to help people considering a move to unfamiliar areas, ReviewMyPad also offers articles, news and a blog covering topics such as interior design, new government initiatives and ‘How to’ articles.
The company’s goal was to create a library of residential and locational reviews, which would help the public better decide on the areas and houses where they choose to live.
User profiles allow householders to contact local estate agents. Agents can upload properties for free, linking to major sites such as Right Move and Prime Location.
The company aims to inform its users, save them money, and to motivate people by distracting them from the difficulties often encountered along the way, whilst on a property hunt.
ReviewMyPad stated that it has already established itself as a welcome and important resource in the competitive world of online property sales; confirming this claim by releasing figures showing impressive levels of demand for its free property reviews and expert advice.
According to ReviewMyPad’s figures, website traffic rose from a couple of hundred page views straight into the thousands – an overall rise of over 400 per cent over a three month period, with an 850 per cent increase in unique visitors to the site.
Director of ReviewMyPad, Victoria Ufondu, commented, “We are delighted with the initial response to the website and encouraged by the demand for our advice and property reviews. The increase in web traffic is down to a number of things, not least our regularly updated sections which include reports on latest property market trends and initiatives, and a raft of articles offering practical guidance and advice, which see a high number of repeat visitors. Considering we are so new, it’s impressive that we have been able to attract such high levels of visitors, and it goes to show that house-hunters really do want more information and advice when it comes to buying a property.”
Ufondu stated that, the success of ReviewMyPad must also be correlated with the upturn in the property market as a whole. "Government schemes introduced last year, such as Funding for Lending and Help to Buy are finally coming to fruition, resulting in more first-time buyers entering the property arena and an increase in the number of mortgage loans being approved by banks and other lending institutions.”
In fact, the Bank of England’s figures for May showed that the number of first-time buyers doubled over the previous six months, and an additional 8,000 mortgages overall were approved (both new and re-mortgages). This means that the potential for a greater number of site visitors to ReviewMyPad is increasing in-line with a more robust UK property market overall.
“We’re reassured by this early success, and we will continue to extend our offering to homebuyers, providing relevant, useful and interesting content to those looking to invest in property in the UK,” concluded Ufondu.
