Scottish property portal Citylets has announced an impressive double whammy of new partnerships with an emphasis on the West of Scotland.
Citylets has announced that, from August 2013 it will power the lettings section of GSPC, West Scotland’s largest property network, and the new online property channel of The Daily Record & Sunday Mail, Media Scotland’s flagship print and online title with a combined monthly audience reach of over 3 million.
Citylets founder and MD, Thomas Ashdown said: “We are delighted to be able to add value to our core proposition with these new, local partnerships. Both brands are Scottish icons in the West of Scotland and assist us in our aim to provide Scottish letting agents with a strong local portal that allows Scotland to continue enjoying an increasingly rare commodity in the UK- property portal choice.”
Citylets currently holds a number of other local partnerships including East Central Scotland’s leading property site, ESPC. Their strategy appears to be one of localism after pioneering and then discarding the UK network model which, according to Ashdown, reached a tipping point in sustainability after sector consolidation in 2012.
The strategy appears to be paying dividends with steep growth recorded by Experian Hitwise over the last year. Citylets remains the leading Scottish lettings portal and, perhaps more surprisingly, has kept UK market leader Rightmove shut firmly out of large parts of the country. According to Citylets, it has almost 90% market share of mainstream letting agents in the key cities of Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen with around 80% not subscribed to Rightmove.
Media Scotland is the recently merged entity of Scottish & Universal Newspapers with the Scottish Daily Record & Sunday Mail, part of Trinity Mirror plc.
