Online marketplaces and yellow pages have already conquered paper advertising and now they are competing in the fast changing internet world. Visionaries find themselves adopting emerging technologies to secure a leading position. Hakema claims that its new contact and commerce platform is accelerating their digital transformation and creating new revenue opportunities.
Hakema’s platform is currently being used by two of the largest online classified providers in Finland. Sanoma Group has had it on their online marketplace Oikotie.fi for all real estate sellers and buyers since 2012. Recently Alma Media introduced it on Etuovi.com, and it is also scheduled to go live on the leading online marketplaces in Estonia and Latvia, City24.ee and City24.lv.
The Finnish technology company was founded two years ago, and it provides a contact and commerce platform for online marketplaces and yellow pages. The platform includes online appointment and meeting scheduling, real-‐estate open house planner, call-‐back, call-‐tracking and book-‐N-‐pay solutions. These pluggable products can be deployed in hours and are highly scalable and cost-‐effective.
Hakema’s business idea was born when the founders Ajay Garg and Päivi Laajanen encountered several challenges while looking for their new home. Consequently they embarked in creating a simple yet advanced appointment scheduling system that would make buyers’ and sellers’ instant contacting streamlined online ads. “It is surprising how many online classifieds are still like copies of paper advertisements, although they are published online," says CEO Ajay Garg.
Hakema strives to transform online classified ads by making them more interactive. For example, using its appointment scheduling for online classifieds, buyers can instantly book appointments with sellers by simply clicking a button. This saves time for both buyers and sellers as there is no longer a need to call or email.
Enhanced with SMS and email alerts, the company says that the product has shown to be over 2.2 times more efficient than traditional contact forms.
