Last year South African property portal PrivateProperty swam in the Midmar Mile for a good cause, and raised more than R50,000 (aprox. US$5,500), which was used to purchase wheelchairs for underprivileged disabled children.
Lead by the company’s CEO Justin Clarke, who is himself a paraplegic and in a wheel chair after a skiing accident; PrivateProperty is going to participate in the Midmar Mile race again, this February.
PrivateProperty will work with the Extra Mile organisation, in association with an NPO called Khethiwe, to distribute the wheelchairs. Khethiwe’s emphasis is on empowering the families of these children to help them to the best of their ability. The organisation has over 100 children on its books and sees around 60 children each month. These children do not pay for this support and the organisation is dependent on fundraising to sustain its work.
