Berlin, 10 March 2014 – ImmobilienScout24, Germany's biggest property portal, has had another record number of visitors. In January, the online platform recorded around 72 million visits. Compared to the all-time high of the previous year, this represents an additional 18-percent increase. And mobile use of the portal via smartphones and tablets now accounts for over 50 percent of visitor numbers.
Trust in insurance or banking products is still low. Fixed deposits and government bonds currently generate virtually no interest income. Instead, the spotlight remains on properties as a safe investment. This is a development which is also reflected in the record number of visits to www.immobilienscout24.de. Whereas the portal recorded around 61 million visits in January 2013, in January 2014 it registered around 72 million visits. This represents a double-digit increase of 18 percent (source: comScore Digital Analytix).
ImmobilienScout24 has documented not only a record number of visitors, but also an increasing shift away from desktop use towards mobile use. The majority of the traffic can be traced back to tablets, iPhones and other mobile devices. Users accessing the website via mobile devices now outnumber those accessing it via desktop PCs, accounting for over 52 percent of total traffic. Compared to the previous year, this represents an increase of 65 percent (source: comScore Digital Analytix).
“The considerable increase in visits and the great number of mobile users prove that ImmobilienScout24 is taking the right approach with its ‘mobile first strategy’”, states Marc Stilke, CEO of ImmobilienScout24. “We are available to our customers at all times and in all places, providing them with our services no matter when, no matter where. In this way, we are meeting the requirements of today's mobile user and consistently pursuing our strategy for innovation.”
ImmobilienScout24 has successfully established its services in the mobile internet, and pursues a ‘mobile first strategy’ using apps for iPhone, iPad and Android devices. Compared to the previous year, use of the tablet Android app ‘Hausbau’
(+93 percent), the Android search app (+89 percent) and the iPad app ‘Umzug’ (+82 percent) particularly increased. The Android search app also broke the 3-million mark in terms of download figures.
The outstanding January result can also be traced back to the continuous expansion of the website from an advertising portal to a portal that assists in the decision-making process. With its great range of property-related services – such as information on pricing and location, property ratings and assistance when moving or seeking a construction loan – ImmobilienScout24 views itself as a partner that supports its customers in all important decisions when it comes to finding the right property.
ImmobilienScout24 is Germany's largest real estate market. With more than 10.5 million users (unique visitors; according to comScore Media Metrix) per month, the website is by far the most highly frequented real estate portal in the German-language Internet. In addition to that, every month there are 300 million virtual property visits conducted on the portal.
At ImmobilienScout24, more than 1.5 million different properties are offered every month. The company is based in Berlin and has more than 600 employees.
