Urban Edge, the popular New York City-based, no fee rental apartment website, celebrated the 4th anniversary of its launch this week. In an industry where websites can come and go, Urban Edge has shown staying power—and no interest in keeping the status quo moving forward.
“We are very excited to hit this milestone in our growth,” said Mark Sperry, Vice President of Urban Edge. “The past four years have gone by quickly, and have been a great learning experience for all of us. We’re taking those lessons, and will be moving the site up to the next level over the coming year”
Looking back, Sperry remarked, “In addition to tweaking the user experience since we launched, we’ve significantly grown the number of owners with listings on our website, and improved the frequency of updates. We also have expanded our geographic footprint, by adding apartments in Nassau County, Essex County, and several counties in Connecticut. When we launched, we only covered NYC, Hudson County, Bergen County and Westchester County.”
“We have big plans for the next 12 months, with a number of changes currently being worked on,” said Sperry. “In addition to a completely new look and feel, we are reprogramming our backend and database to improve response time significantly. New user features are being added as well. Our target for unveiling the new website is during the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2014”
Sperry noted, “We are in the planning stages of expanding into new cities across the country, and we hope to have the first two new markets added by the end of the year, with further rollouts in 2015. There are also a few other changes we are not yet ready to announce, but are being considered and/or worked on. By our 5th anniversary next year, the website will be virtually all new, with an expanded audience.”
