Damon Pezaro, Product Director of Domain Group said that since releasing the first property search app in Australia in 2009, Domain had made a concerted effort to harness customer feedback and remain at the forefront of mobile technology.
“This award is great recognition for the team here. When we first launched we wanted to make sure our app could do all that the desktop site could, but we made sure we included tools that would be of use when our customers were out and about. The ability to take photos and notes, for example, during inspections really helps our users recall every aspect of a property and give it an overall score.
“Our mobile products have continued to evolve in order to cater for the changing needs of our users. And this is the reason we’re here today - traffic from mobile devices now surpasses that from desktops and we’re experiencing 50% year-on-year growth in mobile audience enquiries and mobile leads to agents,” said Mr Pezaro.
Domain Group Marketing Director, Matt Siddons down-played marketing’s role in this success. "We have made a significant marketing investment in mobile but the plaudits go to Domain’s product team. They have built an incredible mobile user experience which is not only award-winning but rates as Australia’s favourite property app according to app store ratings."
Mr Pezaro also attributed Domain’s success to its commitment to innovation. "Since our first release we’ve tracked audience behaviour and listened to feedback to learn what users wanted, we test with user groups and seek input into all aspects of each product – we never assume what our mobile users want. We’ve also kept a close watch on industry trends around the globe,” said Mr Pezaro.
Domain was first to introduce the popular Finger Search feature, which is being used 200,000 times per month, and was the first to offer push notifications via their Android app. Domain sent out 45,000 notifications in the first month.
Earlier this month, Domain broke new ground again when it released an update to the Android app making it compatible with Android Wear.
“Customer focus and innovation is at the core of our mobile site and apps, which is why our on-the-road tools have proven so popular with property hunters and why we have Australia’s favourite real estate apps and mobile experience. We will continue to drive innovation and we have some exciting projects on the roadmap ahead,” said Mr Pezaro
