This switch in habits of Internet user has been progressing for the last 3 years. In July 2011, 97% of the searches to the portal had been done through desktop version, and the use of mobile device was still rare.
In July 2012, nearly 18% of users are connecting to the site through mobile device, against 82% who still used the desktop version. A year later, the use of mobile device has gone up to 30% of users.
However, the largest growth in the use of mobile devices has been seen last year. Going from 30 to 50,7%, the mobile device is clearly becoming the preferred device to access the real estate search engine.
The tendency to use mobile device to access Internet doesn't only impact the real estate sector. A report from Ditrendia (Spanish digital marketing trends agency) shows a 42,3% increase in sales of smartphones in Spain between 2012 and 2013. Spain is now the European country with most use of smartphones. According to this report, people in Spain prefer the smartphone to access Internet, over desktop and laptop.
