The INEA (Independent Network of Estate Agents) has launched a new MLS based site whereby agents are able to list their properties and other agents are able to access them. This MLS approach will see agents sharing commission but at the same time potentially reducing their reliance on portals such as Zoopla and Rightmove. The INEA has also launched a public facing site at www.INEA.co.uk.
Its estimated that there are around 20,000 estate agency businesses in the UK. Around 3/4's are understood to be independently owned and operated. The INEA platform is targeting the independent agents whereby they can access and add properties to a shared network pool.
Potentially underlying this approach has been the economic success that the UK's largest estate agent group Countrywide has achieved being founders of Rightmove and shareholders in Zoopla.
This initiative is separate from the Agents Mutual site that is launching in January 2015.
