The chief executive of eMoov, which along with other online agents will be banned from OnTheMarket when it launches in January, has reacted angrily to a claim that the new portal will offer any benefits to consumers as well as agents.
Russell Quirk says sellers whose properties are listed on OTM “will see buyer interest in their property at half the level [of] an agent that's listing with both Rightmove and Zoopla/PrimeLocation.”
He also claims OnTheMarket “won't have the exposure or traction of the proper portals. Buyers won't know they exist.”
His reaction came after a weekend announcement by Agents’ Mutual chief executive Ian Springett that another 1,000 agency offices were required in the next three months if OnTheMarket is to launch with its long-standing target of 5,000 offices.
Springett has also announced that AM will soon be withdrawing or revising membership offers to agents who are still undecided as to whether to sign up.
