Robin Wilson, former Head of Product, Rightmove, has joined easyProperty.com after 13 years in senior roles at the leading property portal. Robin joins as chief operating officer and will work directly with chief executive Rob Ellice to expand the business, which launched in September 2014.
Robin was instrumental in the advancement of Rightmove, assisting with the growth of the business nationally: securing upwards of a billion page impressions per month and a FTSE250 stock market listing. His role involved developing and leading a succession of multi-million pound business units at the portal, where he was responsible for planning, building and operating the group's B2C consumer services and B2B SaaS products.
Having contributed to the successful growth of a disruptive business for more than a decade, changing the way property was marketed and searched for in the UK, he is well placed to see the value proposition that easyProperty.com is bringing to the sector.
Robin comments: "Simplifying the process of letting and selling property and making it much more cost effective is a refreshing approach to estate agency. During my time at Rightmove we saw huge changes in how people search for their homes and what they expect from property professionals and I'm convinced that this next decade will see an even greater shift in the way property is transacted. I look forward to working with Rob and the team to further develop this unique offering that will challenge and transform the world of estate agency."
Rob Ellice, CEO of easyProperty, adds: "We're delighted to welcome Robin to the easyProperty team. Robin has a strong understanding of how to develop a disruptive business model, as well as in-depth knowledge of the online property market. He will be an invaluable asset to us as we drive the business forward."
The online platform easyproperty.com will initially focus on the lettings market, offering a 'pick and mix' range of services such as referencing, viewings, deposit handling and tenancy agreements. This unbundled pricing model, which has been pioneered by the easyGroup, offers landlords complete choice and control and will allow them to create a bespoke package to suit their individual requirements.
Unlike traditional estate agents, easyProperty will not charge landlords an upfront fee for listing properties and by introducing unbundled pricing, will save consumers from paying extortionate fees for services they do not require. The service is not restricted by retail opening hours and without shop front overheads such as rent, fit out and staff vehicles, it is able to offer a more cost effective alternative to traditional estate agency.
