REA Group Chief Product Officer Henry Ruiz said that school information is important to property hunters.
“We know that school information is important to people looking to buy property on our site. In fact, 31% of home hunters have said that it matters when making a decision on a property1,” Mr Ruiz said.
“Many of them are either moving to accommodate a growing tribe of kids, or for different circumstances need to find a property elsewhere and therefore the kids need to change schools,” he said.
“What we’re also noticing is the number of overseas and interstate investors keen to buy homes primarily in the vicinity of desired schools,” he added.
To help people understand schools in the area of a property they’re interested in, the closest schools are automatically listed with their name, type, sector and distance from the property. The information is provided by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority to ensure the most comprehensive list available.
Property seekers can access the information on individual listings on realestate.com.au’s desktop and mobile sites. It is also available on MyFun.com, built and designed by REA Group to showcase Australian property to Chinese property hunters.
“School information is one of many enhancements we will be rolling out on realestate.com.au over the coming months, to ensure consumers continue to get the best property experience,” Mr Ruiz said.
