As part of its continued focus on innovation in digital marketing solutions for the multifamily industry, RentPath, parent company of Apartment Guide, Rent.com, Rentals.com and Lovely, has appointed Clark Wood as its new chief marketing officer. Wood succeeds Scott Asher, former vice president of marketing and operations. Asher will be now heading up RentPath’s Operations division.
Prior to joining RentPath, Wood was a founding partner of AutoTrader.com and served as the company’s chief marketing officer for 15 years. At RentPath, Wood will be responsible for all of the company’s marketing initiatives, including advertising to prospective renters and serving multifamily industry clients, in addition to introducing new approaches from his wealth of experience at AutoTrader.com.
“AutoTrader.com became, and continues to be, the Internet’s ultimate automotive marketplace and leading resource for car shoppers and sellersunder Wood’s stewardship,” said Charles Stubbs, president and chief executive officer for RentPath. “The addition of Clark to our senior leadership team illustrates another example of our ongoing commitment to maintaining our industry-leading position in digital marketing solutions and providing innovative offerings to our multifamily clients. As an organization, we pride ourselves on the number of digital marketing firsts we’ve delivered to our clients.”
RentPath was the first digital marketing solutions partner to launch a website in 1996, the first to develop an apartment search app for iPhone® in 2008, the first to introduce an app for Android™ in 2009 and the first to build a mobile-friendly apartment search website in 2011. More recently, the company was the first to launch Certified Resident Ratings & Reviews® on its apartment listings and the first to offer free, mobile-optimized apartment community websites leveraging HD photos and additional content from their advertiser’s listings.
“RentPath has established it is the leader in the digital marketing arena for the multifamily industry, but technological innovation never rests and it won’t rest for RentPath,” Wood said. “I’m excited about this opportunity to drive even more innovation that delivers quality leads to clients and benefits prospective renters in finding the perfect place to live through the RentPath Network. I respect that the multifamily industry is unique, thus I look forward to further learning about this exciting industry and helping to integrate various new ideas from my previous experiences into improvements that produce results.”
To date, RentPath has delivered a number of industry leading results, including delivering more than 148,000 advertiser leads in a single day on March 2nd and a year-over-year increase of 31% in total leads delivered in February. Additionally, the organization owns a category-leading 47% of the organic click share on Google®, which is three times as many as any other digital marketing platform in the multifamily industry, according to Hitwise.
Wood has more than 30 years of experience helping distinguished brands produce industry-leading results, having spent 15 years at J. Walter Thompson prior to joining AutoTrader.com. At J. Walter Thompson, as senior partner, Wood was responsible for effectively managing the accounts of numerous well-known international brands, including Ford, Goodyear, Citibank, Exxon, Nabisco, DeBeers, SC Johnson and Warner Bros.
