realestate.com.au has launched what it calls "Australia’s most sophisticated property recommendation engine". The engine predicts which properties you will be interested in based on your own activity together with hundreds of millions of interactions on realestate.com.au.
realestate.com.au will deliver these personalised property recommendations direct to most Android devices via Now cards in the Google app.
How it works
Once you’ve turned on Now cards in the Google app, realestate.com.au Now cards will appear throughout the week to alert you to ‘Suggested Properties’, which have been specifically chosen for you. To find out more about a suggested property, you simply click on the property to view its details on the realestate.com.au app.
When it comes to the weekend, Now cards will remind you about ‘Inspections today’ for properties you have shown an interest in during the week and display inspection times for each property.
To predict which properties you will be interested in, realestate.com.au is using machine learning and big data technologies to compare your unique property interests with collective data from similar users. With over 40 million visits in May 2015 alone, realestate.com.au is in the unique position of being able to make over a hundred million calculations every day to build its understanding.
Commenting on the launch, Henry Ruiz, Chief Product Officer for realestate.com.au’s parent company REA Group, said:
“We’re always looking at new developments in personalisation and big data for opportunities to make the property process easier. Using big data and predictive analytics, our trials have shown we can accurately predict which properties you will be interested in, saving time and making it easier to find your dream property.”
“The Google app is a great way to launch our recommendations service and deliver personalised property suggestions directly to your Android device. We’re planning to expand our recommendation service to other devices and the main realestate.com.au site in the future,” said Mr Ruiz.
