US online real estate giant Zillow has announced it will host a Tech Volunteer Fair in its Seattle-based office aiming to bring together local nonprofit organisations looking for technical skills.
Zillow says the Tech Volunteer Fair will connect local Seattle nonprofits with technology experts who can assist organizations with their technology needs on a volunteer basis.
The event is open to anyone and is free to attend, both for nonprofits and potential volunteers. it will be held May 19, 2016 between 5-7pm.
"At Zillow, we have a grassroots philanthropy program called Zillow Gives Back," Zillow vice president of product Rebekah Bastian says.
"Our employees have a done great job with initiatives like fundraising and donation drives, but in our conversations with the local nonprofits we heard their need for skill-based volunteers.
"We knew we could rally Zillow employees, but we wanted to take it a step further and engage the broader Seattle tech community.
"We knew there would be more talented and passionate people interested in connecting with a nonprofit to donate their time and skills," she says.
Zillow is seeking 20 to 30 nonprofits, defined as a Washington-based 501(c)(3), in need of volunteers with technology skills.
Nonprofits that fit the description simply need to submit a proposal by April 1 which outlines clearly defined, limited-scope projects that are in need of technical help.
