Mumbai-based multi-category classifieds platform Quikr has entered an agreement with startup Fixy which provides on demand maintenance services for the home and office.
The partnership is aimed to boost Quikr’s home services vertical, QuikrServices, launched in October last year. Under the agreement, any home services segment queries on Quikr in Mumbai and Thane will be redirected to Fixy.
Also based in Mumbai, Fixy was launched in 2014 by Tufayl Merchant and Nabeel Merchant as an online platform to provide services for booking handyman electric, carpentry or plumbing jobs and other and home maintenance services.
Fixy co-founder Tufayl Merchant claims Fixy processes 40 to 50 requests a day with the capacity to ramp up to 500 jobs a day. says the two companies will be exclusive partners for queries in the home services segment including handyman jobs, home cleaning services and appliance repair and maintenance.
"Apart from the three categories in which Fixy is present, we plan to enter the personal device and indoor entertainment device repair and maintenance space," Merchant adds.
"Fixy also plans to expand its services in cities like Pune, Ahmedabad, Surat and Rajkot over the next year."
According to startup news site Inc42, Quikr shared its plans to invest about $37.5 million (INR 250 Cr.) in its home services category about two months ago. It competes with players like Findyahan, Urbanclap, Housejoy, Timesaverz and Zimmber among others.
Along with QuikrServices, Quikr launched several of services for consumers in 2015 including QuikrJobs, a platform catering to blue-collar and entry-level white-collar job seekers, QuikrHomes, a platform providing customer engagement and lead management tools for builders and brokers, and QuikrCars, a free local classified platform to post online ads for new or used cars, bikes and commercial vehicles.
