Australian free to list real estate website Homely.com.au has launched Collections, a collaborative search tool allowing home seekers or renters to easily, collect, organise and share image galleries of the properties they are finding online.
Collections works by streamlining the way home buyers and renters search for and share properties.
It allows users to save their favourite homes by clicking the heart icon in the top right hand corner of any property card and creating a gallery with a theme of their own choosing such as suburbs, price points, investment prospects, dream homes or reno ideas.
Homely co-founder and co-CEO Jason Spencer says the concept is a first for any portal as far as he is aware.
Based on the concept of favourites folders online, he says it’s the fastest and most beautiful way of sharing the details of homes couples are researching when they’re in the market to buy.
“Typically when you share a property with your partner you end up sending about 20 emails back and forth,” Spencer tells Property Portal Watch.
“Our new feature Collections allows you to create a gallery of homes you love.
“For example or it might be ‘beach front beauties’ or ‘homes in our budget’. It’s much more efficient than having a whole unorganized list of shared properties or worse 1000 emails you’ve got to sort through.
"No other portal places social collaboration at the heart of user search. Users can easily invite their friends and family to view, add and change properties in their Collections,"he says.
Co-CEO and Head of Product at Homely Adam Spencer adds the great thing about Collections is that it provides instant notifications and activity updates for each member invited to a Collection, keeping everyone posted of any new developments.
"In addition to improving the efficiency and simplicity of searching for a new home with others, Collections is also a lot of fun. It fuels Australia’s love affair with beautiful real estate by making it easy to save and share the most inspiring homes on the market,” Adam says.
Collections went live this week (April 12 2016).
It’s is the latest in a series of new features the company has launched this year including Premier Agent and Activity Feed both of which represent revenue streams to complement Homely.com.au’s free to list offer.
Launched in February, Premier Agent gives an agent further promotion above and beyond its free listings.
“Premier Agent is an avenue for an agent to show off what makes them the best in their neighbourhood and why a vendor should list with them. It’s a way to present them as an expert,” Spencer says.
“It shows sales statistics, but what we do differently is bring in all the social content we’ve grown on the site. So if the agent has commented on their local school, rated a neighbourhood or a street, this information is accessible on their profile.”
Activity Feed, launched at the same time as Premier Agent, is a similar concept Spencer claims is also a word first. It collates all the social content activities an agent has contributed along with any review to allow a potential buyer to glean a strong personal sense of the agent
Spencer says Homely.com.au is on track to achieve 7-10 million unique visits to the site in 2016.
Currently, he says the site gets approximately 20,000 a day and he’s happy with that.
“It’s not the 100,000 the REA Group gets, but it’s still 20,000 people who are not on other sites. We’ve basically doubled our traffic each year since launch and we’re still growing.”
Look out for the the full interview with Jason Spencer coming soon to Property Portal Watch.
