DIAKRIT, a gold sponsor of this year’s Property Portal Watch Conference in Bangkok is arguably the largest producer of digital sales and marketing solutions for the global real estate market.
In February the company enjoyed a big coup when News Corp Australia became a majority shareholder in the business.
Co founder and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer Dick Karlsson says News Corp has expressed its intention to use its reach, digital assets and advertising expertise to further drive DIAKRIT’s growth in new markets.
In turn, News Corp's property businesses and real estate customers will benefit enormously from utilising DIAKRIT’s expertise and products.
"I'm excited about the opportunities that are opening up," Karlsson says.
“News Corp and DIAKRIT share the ambition of providing consumers with rich, authoritative and empowering content that engages on a whole other level.
"We see great potential in working especially together with their property businesses around the world to see this happen on a much more global scale,” he says.
Diakrit specialises in cloud-based software, 2D & 3D floorplan services, professional photo services, property slideshows, high end 3D visualizations, flythrough animations, Virtual Reality experience, reproduction of drawings and much more.
Karlsson adds every solution DIAKRIT develops and produces is specially designed to help real estate professionals attract more buyers and renters to their listings.
“We know from experience that property portals hold the key to the future of bringing our products to various markets worldwide, which is why we have previously succeeded in, and continue to actively seek out, partnerships with the leading portal in each market,” he tells PPW.
With News Corp as its mutual shareholder, Karlsson recently met up with REA Group executives> He says the two businesses are very like-minded and were impressed with each other.
“Now as part of the same family, you could see us as two siblings who are getting to know each other better.” he says.
“I’m impressed of REA Group and how it uses realestate.com.au as a cornerstone for international growth. That’s similar to how we have grown the past 15 years and how we have used the Scandinavian market as a foundation for international ventures.”
Karlsson predicts the digital experience will only continue to grow with tools for buyers looking for a new home online getting better and better. “In many markets around the world a few pictures are still the standard content on an online listing.
"The divergence between the type of content you see on a listing and the type of content consumed on Facebook for example is just growing," he adds.
"As a result I see people demanding an enhanced experience when they search for homes.”
Karlsson also says the virtual reality (VR) experience is going to really take off in the next couple of years an area in which DIAKRIT is really pushing the boundaries.
"We have already released VR solutions for new developments, residential resell and rentals and we are releasing VR solutions for commercial real estate in the next couple of months," Karlsson reveals.
Launched in Sweden in 2001 by Karlsson along with co founders Fredrik Bergman and Martin Fritze, DIAKRIT is now headquartered in Bangkok.
With seven offices including a presence in Australia, USA, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Thailand, DIAKRIT employs more than 450 people who preside over 2000+ major real estate clients worldwide.
“Back in Sweden in 2001, there were no good online presentations for real estate,” Karlsson recalls.
“People were making one of the biggest financial decisions in their lives based on a few amateur photos and, if they were lucky, a blurry floorplan sketch from the previous decade.
"The search for a new home was an agonizing and time-consuming process.”
DIAKRIT was born out of this insight – that these decisions are actually based on the capacity to imagine your future home.
“Visualizations, photos, floorplans and interior design tools are an indispensable source of fuel for imagining the future and for sharing these dreams with family, friends and co-workers,” Karlsson enthuses.
“As co-founder, I have always thrived on the customer and consumer experience and as responsible for our global sales and marketing team, I get the pleasure to work with our 2000 real estate customers around the world every day.”
Of the future Karlsson says DIAKRIT’s objective is to continue a high rate of growth and maintain profitability by entering and expanding into new markets.
“With a clear focus on technological development and digitization, we are continuing our journey into new markets with new innovations that will improve and simplify the purchasing experience, shorten sales times and enhance consumers’ ability to imagine the property of their dreams.”
