Bangalore-based home rental services startup NestAway has raised $30 million in a series C round of funding led by Tiger Global.
Other investors in the round included Russian billionaire Yuri Milner, who founded of DST Global, IDG Ventures India and former Flipkart head of operations Sujeet Kumar.
Founded in 2015 by Amarendra Sahu, Smruti Parida, Deepak Dhar and Jitendra Jagadev, NestAway turns unfurnished houses into well-designed, full-furnished homes or managed apartments and rents them with a flexible, sliding scale of prices to vetted tenants.
The company also manages a home owner’s property during the entire rent cycle, collects a fee from the rent paid by the tenants including showing the house to a prospective tenant and closing the rental agreement.
Nestaway even assists owners and tenants when the latter are moving out.
Most recently, in March 2016, NestAway raised an undisclosed amount from Indian businessman and philanthropist Ratan Tata, while in the previous year it received a cash injection of $12 million from Tiger Global and Flipkart.
Nestaway rents homes to over 10,000 tenants across Bangalore, Delhi NCR, Pune, and Hyderabad. It primarily serves single professionals and students but has moved to include families as well with fully furnished homes on offer.
The startup is planning to expand to Mumbai and Chennai soon, aiming to reach a million users in the next two to three years.
