According to Savills’ World Residential Markets 2015-2016, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States are the among the top overseas property investment countries for buyers from Hong Kong and Mainland China.
These three 'winning' countries also top the list of overseas education countries in the world, while most international students receiving education there come from China.
Apart from the traditionally popular investment spots, Malaysia comes into the scene as a new winning country this year.
International investors have been turning their focus to Malaysia in recent years due to the downward slope of Ringgit exchange rate in 2010-2015.
Furthermore, the Government is putting much effort into developing Malaysia as the gate to the ASEAN market.
Numerous incentives were provided to attract foreign funding; as a result, the FDI inflow of Malaysia was the fifth in the world, according to UNCTAD 2015 World Investment Report.
"Advances in consumer property searches, connecting to Tencent’s exclusive resources, as well as target marketing to WeChat and QQ users, China’s leading messaging platforms will be the key for overseas property developers to tap into China’s lucrative market in the years to come," Chmiel says.
