US online real estate search company Trulia has introduced a new search feature Rent Near Transit to help consumers find available rentals close to transport.
Rent Near Transit is a search filter which allows users to find properties located within a 15-minute walk of the transit stations they care about.
Additionally, renters can compare median rental prices by transit station, giving them a better feel for the market at a more local level.
Prices are updated regularly to reflect changes in the market as they occur. As a result, Rent Near Transit eliminates the need for renters to toggle between Trulia Rentals and their favorite maps platform to find their next home.
"We know that 70 per cent of renters want to be close to their job, school, or transit and that they are often in a crunch to find a new home fast," said Trulia Rentals general manager Yardley Ip.
"By combining rental listings with transit lines, Rent Near Transit filters out listings that are not convenient for a renter, so they can move fast in finding their next perfect home."
The feature is available on Trulia for desktop and mobile Web, for the Bay Area Rapid Transit, the Boston 'T', the Chicago 'L', the New York Subway, the Philadelphia SEPTA and the Washington DC Metro.
The news follows the launch late in March of Redfin's Opportunity Score rating system which tells users how easy it is to get from their job without a car.
