The latest online platform selling new Australian properties locally and overseas has just gone live targeting every Australian project and providing owner-occupiers and investors every conceivable service.
Unlike other portals, founder Vicki Bailey says every property on www.australianproperties.com is sold by the business directly.
We are a full transactional model," Bailey explains.
"We very carefully chose the portal name – we see it as a worldwide brand, and our aim is to reach the stage where anyone, anywhere in the world who is interested in new Australian property will use our portal."
Bailey launched her online business as a licensed real estate agency Australian Properties International in 2015 and has been developing its strategy with adviser and sole investor John Mitchell, who is also the company's CEO.
Supporting services net clients
In addition to the property portal, the two have built a whole range of businesses with separate landing pages to support, promote and help build the property portal's client base.
Launching over the next two weeks, the nine separate businesses include a high-end glossy hard copy title Australian Property Magazine, two off the plan finance and brokerage businesses, 'Property Discovery Tours' to feature projects around Australia and a free, full education service for novice and seasoned property investors.
In addition, the site will host an online retailer of property books the company acquired and plans to upgrade, 'Access to Asia' for developer clients and 'Seekology' a service which disrupts the buyers' agent industry by charging the seller instead of the purchaser.
"Buyers agents across Australia are going to hate us!" laughs Bailey.
"But this industry was ripe for disruption, and we are the ones doing it. We only make our service available for investors, not owner-occupiers."
Bailey says these extra services are intended as lead generation businesses for the core business – the transactional property portal.
"All divisions help each other, and our view is that we don’t care where we first attract the client, as long as we get them," she asserts.
"So rather than just launch a portal and try to attract visitors, we are using all our other divisions to support and grow it.
"Along the way we will certainly be disrupting some parts of the property industry and ruffling quite a few feathers. We hope to be a force to be reckoned with in every area that we will be operating in.
Australian Properties is also planning a presence in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and China but the business is so fledgling, it hasn't yet secured all the office space required and sales teams are still six to eight months off completion.
But Bailey and Mitchell are extremely bullish.
"We have over 600 projects (80,000+ properties) on our website, and this will grow to over 1,000 in the next 2 months," Bailey says.
"Eventually it will have virtually every Australian project. To put this into perspective, realestate.com.au has around 300 new projects on their site at any one time, so we are launching with twice as many.
"Other portals and sales agents around the world, particularly those in South East Asia, can use our portal to access stock to sell their clients," Bailey says.
"We are open to sharing commissions with portals and agents around the world. Those with vision will see this opportunity and grasp it.
One stop shop
Bailey maintains Australian Properties is truly "a one-stop shop for owner-occupiers and investors, providing every conceivable service".
"The logics are simple – the bigger the client base, the more clients we attract and service, the more successful we will be," she says.
"Rather than just rely on a portal to attract clients, all our other businesses attract clients and meld seamlessly into each other. A client coming to our buyers agents business needs finance. Once they have finance, they need a property and so on.
She adds, most importantly, the business provides clients with a fully personalised and complete service, including independent guidance, knowledge and recommendations.
"Every client has their own personal concierge available to them from search through to settlement and beyond," Bailey enthuses.
"We make their new property purchase a seamless and enjoyable experience, ensuring they make the wisest possible purchase decision with superior financial outcomes."
