Australian real estate portal group REA Group has been named the Best Employer at the fourth annual B&T Women in Media Awards in Sydney.
The awards recognise exceptional women who have achieved success in the industry, and celebrates their contribution through leadership, innovation and courage.
Since 2015, female representation on the Executive Leadership Team has increased from 33 percent to 40 percent. The company has a target of 50 percent female employees by 2020, and at present has achieved 40 percent.
In 2016 REA Group launched an innovative parental leave program, with six months’ paid parental leave for primary caregivers and three months of paid leave for secondary carers/partners.
REA Group CEO Tracey Fellows said the company had successfully integrated diversity into its marketing and recruitment campaigns to further develop and retain talent.
“I’m proud we are able to support women throughout their entire careers,” she said.
“We introduced the new parental leave offer so new parents working at REA are able to focus on this incredibly exciting time in their lives without worrying about how to combine family and career. Being recognised for our approach to diversity is a bonus.”
Barb Hyman, Executive General Manager – People & Culture, said encouraging women to climb the ladder within REA was a win-win.
“At REA, our vibrant, diverse, and inclusive team is our biggest asset, and within that we acknowledge the responsibility we have in helping nurture and develop female talent at REA,” she said.
“The B&T Women in Media Awards acknowledge and celebrate outstanding women in the workforce, which is closely aligned to our diversity strategy at REA Group. I’m looking forward to continuing to foster all our talented individuals at REA.”
