New research from job portal Glassdoor.com suggests that companies with positive online employee reviews have an advantage when it comes to recruiting job candidates. Glassdoor’s data also showed that strong employer brands lead to more applications and lower salary requests.
The study, developed by University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Las Palmas, Spain looked at whether online employee reviews influence job seekers' opinions of an employer, and finds that they do. In addition, the study uncovers how positive versus negative employee reviews can impact the quantity of job applicants an employer receives, salary requirements that candidates request, along with other job seeker behaviours and sentiments that can impact an organization's recruiting efficiency.
To substantiate their findings, the authors used and studied online employee reviews on Glassdoor, one of the world's largest jobs, recruiting and employee review sites. Currently, Glassdoor offers millions of employee reviews and insights on more than 600,000 companies (including reviews of companies and ratings, CEO approval ratings, salary reports, interview questions and reviews, and benefits reviews) in 190 countries.
