LinkedIn aims to diversify customer base with new news timeline

Professional networking platform LinkedIn recently unveiled their Trending Storylines feature; a personalised news feed aimed at attracting users to the site for more than just jobs.

Trending Storylines are based on the trending news of the moment and content from outside LinkedIn’s own network plus related writing published on LinkedIn itself.

Managed by a team of 24 editors, Trending Storylines also uses algorithms to personalise each news cluster to each user, their network, what they’re writing and what they have previously read.

The feature will be rolled out in the U.S. in English-only at first, with an initial focus on stories in technology, finance and healthcare.
