JobStreet.com, an Indonesian job search company with a database of 230,000 companies and 15 million job seekers throughout Asia has offered a Speed Dating Interview option to its candidates and corporate HRD.
The findings which JobStreet concluded, address complaints by HRD professionals regarding prospective candidates' no-shows to job interviews.
Faridah Lim, Country Manager of JobStreet Indonesia, pointed out that even though many job seekers experience difficulty setting up an interview, many of the candidates simply do not make it to a scheduled interview.
After a lengthy search, JobStreet found that among the reasons which job seekers listed for missing an appointed interview were: remote locations, conflicting schedules, and inconsistent viewing of companies.
Faridah added that even though the excuses are justified, the candidates should still try to make it to the interview(s), otherwise the company looking to hire them, may find them flaky and not reliable.
It was also suggested that the candidate's tendency to skip job interviews could further increase, due to the lack of sense of urgency from the usual interview invitation.
"They can postpone a scheduled interview that makes the company's recruitment process longer and ineffective," Faridah commented.
JobStreet is planning to hold a Speed Dating Interview event, on October 5th, 2017 at Patra Jasa Building Jakarta.
"Unlike the traditional 'job fair' concept, at this event all candidates will get direct interviews with more than 100 leading companies in Greater Jakarta," said Faridah.
"If the elected candidate can not attend, then he is replaced by another one, so as to increase the sense of urgency and 'educate' the candidates as much as possible in order to meet the invitation of the interview," he said.
Faridah also stated that this event ultimately is to help both those who are looking for better careers and companies that are looking for qualified employees for the betterment of the company.
