The Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Fund (MBRIF), an AED 2 billion ($549 million) UAE federal government initiative, announced InternsME.com as its first grant recipient.
Lunched in 2012, InternsME.com is an online portal connecting students and recent graduates to top employers throughout the Middle East for internships, trainee positions and job opportunities.
InternsME chief executive Jean-Michel Gauthier said, “By working together, we are building the economy of the future, creating the jobs of today and tomorrow, and gearing up for global success that will benefit the youth of the UAE.”
Led by the Ministry of Finance, the MBRIF acts as a catalyst for the UAE’s National Innovation Strategy, focusing on innovating regional and global companies in renewable and clean energy, among other services. The MBRIF also considers companies that can contribute constructively to the country’s social and economic progress.
“Creating employment opportunities through internships not only improves the nation’s economy but also gives fresh graduates and university students an opportunity to be part of the workforce and contribute positively to the UAE,” said Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance.
