One of the UK’s leading recruitment agencies is concerned that people are missing out on career opportunities by overlooking temporary work.
Acorn, which has branches in Yeovil and Bridgwater, has seen a significant increase in the number of temporary job openings for production workers through the South West.
Such roles offer people immediate work with flexible shift patterns, competitive hourly rates, and potential long-term career routes.
But Noel Hoare, divisional manager for the South West, fears that people are missing out on career opportunities or new employment skills by overlooking temporary roles.
"People can be reluctant to consider temporary production roles, however, the nature of the work means that it can be a reliable solution for people in very different situations, such as students just finishing university, people who have been out of work for a little while on maternity or travelling, or simply anyone tired of their nine-to-five and looking for a job with shifts to fit around other commitments", he said.
