Millennials, the youngest generation of consumers has already entered the workforce, and they've developed some serious purchasing power. Brands which are able to demonstrate sustainability with biodegradable packaging and end-to-end corporate responsibility are more likely to win their hearts.
According to a Pew Research on millennials in adulthood, less than a third of individuals born after 1980 identify as outright environmentalists, but millennials are still the most “sustainable” generation to date.
Today young adults tend to be more likely to support strict environmental policies and regulations, they prefer to work for sustainable employers, will gladly pay more for eco-friendly products and choose sustainable transportation options when possible.
Electric vehicles are popping up left and right, among them the Tesla is the cream of the crop, and there are slew of companies which have rolled out a hybrids, even Ford has one. All looking to appeal to the environmentally conscious generation coming into its own.
Phat Scooters is a scooter after a millennial's heart as well. Started by three Phoenix entrepreneurs and launched June 15th, the Phat Scooter is an eco-friendly sit-or-stand electric scooter which travels up to 20 mph and can go 30-50 miles on a single charge.
According to the company, it can ride in the bicycle lane, on the golf course, on the boardwalk and anywhere else where a pushbike can go.
The zero-emissions, electric motor provides strong, but controlled acceleration. Different surfaces or a hill are not a challenge for the Phat Scooter due to its wide tires and strong pull, and best of all, the motor is completely silent. The scooter can be customized and the colors can be "funked" up to become more personalized. The cup holder for your kombucha comes standard though.
Preorders for the Phat Scooter began on June 15th and they ship at the beginning of July.
