Last week TechCrunch reported that Uber’s board of directors unanimously voted to move forward with a proposed investment by SoftBank and Dragoneer Investment Group. According to the article, the deal has still not been finalized, therefore it is not clear as to how much the firms will be investing in Uber as of yet. The amount could be between $8 billion and $10 billion.
Lately, SoftBank has been making headlines in the tech industry; after raising a $100 billion fund, it’s invested in ride-hailing companies that rival Uber, and now Uber itself.
While Uber, the board and Kalanick see this as a win, Uber investor Shervin Pishevar is not in agreement with the Board. In a statement, Pishevar said, "They may think they have won a battle today but rest assured they will lose the war."
