Australians can now view and explore virtual properties in their own backyard with the launch of realestate VR by realestate.com.au.
Touted as Australia's first dedicated virtual reality property app to launch on Google's Daydream, realestateVR features a range of active realestate.com.au listings, and allows consumers to walk through their potential next home.
The app also lists a number of off-market properties.
As the technology becomes more widely adopted, the number of properties available to view in VR through the portal will increase, the company said in a press statement.
Realestate.com.au, which is owned by digital advertising company REA Group, developed the new VR app together with immersive media tech company Matterport - the U.S.-based company who specialise in building 3D media solutions for real estate.
Nigel Dalton, REA Group Chief Inventor, said the VR app will change the way people view homes.
"We're excited to be offering Australia's first property app on Daydream. realestate VR will change the way people experience and interact with property.
"By 2020, most Australian homes will have VR headsets, and we're confident the leading real estate agents will embrace virtual reality to create a brand new experience for a whole new generation of property seekers.
"Virtual reality has the unique ability to give us back time, which is the most precious commodity we have. realestateVR will create time for everyone, whether that's property seekers, agents or property managers.
