Group Executives from the real estate heavyweight say digital photographs from listing sites are immensely important when accurately estimating the value of a property. One of the main motivators for developing the technology is the speed at which the programs can sift through photographs.
The scientists have been developing convolutional neural networks, which are essentially computer systems designed to mimic the human brain, says Zillow's chief analytics officer Stan Humphries.
“It’s essentially trying to code, in the pattern of a neural network, what we as humans can infer just by looking at the image.”
