Yandex, a Russian search engine provider, recently announced a collaboration between their ride sharing service Yandex.Taxi and Uber. This agreement will allow both companies to spread their ride sharing services across Russia.
Now, customers can use either the Yandex.Taxi app or Uber's app to hail rides from either service. Uber has also expressed intent to introduce their food delivery service, UberEats, to the region once they get comfortable in Russia.
"The integration will take several months," said a Yandex spokesman. "When it is completed, drivers will be able to get orders from both riders' apps."
Uber has invested $225 million and Yandex has invested $100 million in cash into this collaboration. The combined company is 59.3% owned by Yandex with 36.9% owned by Uber and the rest owned by employees of both companies.
