The National Youth Service Corps, also known as just NYSC, is a one-year mandatory service program for all Nigerians upon completion of higher education.
Currently, Nigeria's workforce is having trouble getting out there and finding employment. To help combat this, the NYSC has launched a new job portal to bring jobs to those who are done serving.
The portal promises to lead these new workers to white-collar and labor jobs, connecting workers with jobs that require their newly honed talents. Brigadier General S. Z Kazaure is quoted saying "The portal we are launching will among other benefits, serve as a platform for Corps members to get information on job vacancies and market themselves to prospective employers, serve as a large pool for employers searching for suitable candidates, and provide means of verification of credentials."
The program will streamline the lives of many of those who leave the Corps and can't find work right away. The people who use the portal will have a much easier time connecting with those around them and will have less of a chance to be glossed over when they need help the most.
