CHOOZ, a new events planning, and staffing service, has launched. The service has plans to connect staff to potential clients, organizers, and assist in running events as they start. CHOOZ claims to have 1000 staff members prepared to work.
One thing CHOOZ prides itself in is its employee benefits. The company works with actual full-time employees, not contractors. That means everyone on staff has access to paid time off, sick leave, and other benefits.
“For too long, events staff have had to put up with low pay, few rights, and have faced inappropriate behavior from event attendees with little or no protection,” says Dennis Oudejans, founder of CHOOZ.
CHOOZ also has a no-harassment policy, with employees in charge of monitoring and reporting any and all harassment, which is then immediately responded to by higher ups.
“The recent revelations of scandalous behavior towards event staff at a black-tie London charity event highlights the problem, but frankly this issue has existed for as long as anyone can remember, and the industry has failed to tackle it. By putting staff in control, CHOOZ aims to make this potential for exploitation a thing of the past," said Oudejans.
CHOOZ operations manager Miriam Aguera said: “We believe CHOOZ will transform the events industry, and bring long-overdue fairness and transparency to the market. Through our platform, staff and organizers are given total freedom and control of their employment. Technology means we can empower staff and cut costs for organizers. A new era in events is about to begin.”
