It is often difficult for those with disabilities to find work in any field, and that is highly unfortunate. Thankfully, a job search service called V-sesh is helping people in India with disabilities find work in their desired fields.
V-sesh has been around since 2009, but recently it received an award for Best Social Business of the Year at the 10th Emerging India Awards.
The two creators of the venture, Shashaank Awasthi and P Rajasekharan, have been working on getting less fortunate people hired for a good while.
“We wanted to build a platform for people from disadvantaged communities to get their first jobs,” said Rajasekharan. “Eight months into it, we trained a few school graduates and women above 30 to enter job markets. But in 2009, the sector collapsed and there were no jobs available. We had to think of a different plan. That is when we decided to move to the cities, and turned towards people with disabilities.”
Their company quickly spread, and they began to work with such clients as ANZ, Bank of America, JP Mogan, Stand Chartered, Accenture, TCS, HP and Loreal.
“We were able to break through to companies at the higher end of skill requirement. This is also because ours is a reverse engineered model that simply prepares employees for the kind of jobs out there," says Shashaank.
