The founder of the media site Pando, Sarah Lacy, has recently launched her newest venture, a unique subscription-based social platform called Chairman Mom. The startup is aimed exclusively at moms to provide much-needed resources that might help them in their goals and achieve success in all aspects of their lives.
“One of the things that’s actually pretty distinct for us is we focus really on the woman, not the children,” Lacy explained. “There’s a lot of sites where you can get a lot of answers of what’s a great pre-school or where’s a restaurant that is kid-friendly. and a lot of things are always very kid-centric. We’re really woman centric.”
Chairman Mom is primarily a question-and-answer platform. The daily publishing includes the team's curation of a few questions regarding life and work, which is then passed on to the community to promote discussion and solutions. The questions themselves can range from “How much do you get paid?” to “What’s the best way to handle harassment at work?” or “What should I do if I think my spouse is cheating on me?”.
