Having already raised US$1.7 million in funding back in 2015, Wuzzuf acquired Egyptian job assessment platform Viriphi in 2016, and now the company has now secured Series B funding, which is the second largest funding round for an Egyptian tech startup ever.
The US$6 million round is led by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (ERBD), Sweden-based Vostok New Ventures, US firm Endure Capital and UK-based Kingsway Capital.
With the new funds, the company's intent is to grow its operations in Egypt and on expanding into the Gulf region; helping employers and job seekers from UAE, Qatar and other Gulf countries.
Wuzzuf was launched in 2012 and is managed by BasharSoft, a technology firm which is one of very few companies in the MENA region specialized in developing Innovative Online Recruitment Solutions for top enterprises and organizations.
Wuzzuf boasts having served Egypt's 10,000+ top companies and employers and claims 1.5 million CVs have been viewed and 100,000+ job seekers were directly hired via its platform.
