Airbnb has launched the 'womenup' program to boost entrepreneurship and boost the female presence in the 4YFN and the Mobile World Congress. The hosting platform has detailed that - in collaboration with Impact Hub Madrid - it will invite women of Spanish and Portuguese nationality to enjoy these two events.
In these events, the participants will be able "to present their projects and be in contact with leaders of the technological sector". In addition, Airbnb will provide a free stay through the accommodation announced on the platform for those entrepreneurs residing outside the Barcelona district. Among all the projects that participate in the 'womenup' program, Airbnb and Impact Hub Madrid will choose the three best initiatives, which will receive a prize of 2,000 euros in cash each and a grant from the Founder Institute Madrid to participate in a program accelerator of four months.
Women who want to participate in the 'womenup' program must register on www.womenupairbnb.com, explain their business initiative and detail why they want to participate in the program. The participants will also have the support of a group of consultants selected for their active role in the technological and digital sectors and who will share professional advice with them. Among them are Joana Sánchez, President of Incipy and Inesdi Digital Business School; Alicia Pomares, managing director of Humannova and Cloudtalent, Ricard Castellet, CCO of Barcelona Tech City; Mari Carmen Martín, director of OM Human Development; Xenia Alonso, founder of Barcelonette; and Gina Tost, a journalist and tech mentor.
The general director of Airbnb in Spain and Portugal, Arnau Muñoz, explained, through a statement, that he hopes that the 'womenup' event "will help to situate the innovative ideas of these Entrepreneurs to the global platform they deserve." And he has been proud of being able to "collaborate to promote the empowerment of women in the technology sector."
