The Global Online Marketplaces Miami 2018 Summit was kicked off with Simon Baker's renowned MasterClass.
In a room full of attendees, composed of industry veterans as well as startup entrepreneurs striving to take their venture to the next level, Baker delivered a slew of powerful and impactful points which he himself experienced throughout his two-decade-long journey in the online industry, investment endeavors and high-level positions within multiple companies - among them Australia's REA Group.
Some of the major remarks Baker made during the interactive lecture focused on the formula and rhythm needed to truly succeed in the realm of online marketplaces, including: the importance of content, the art of prioritization, critical insight to major players on a global scale across all of markets, and the path to implementing this information to any business in order to accelerate its success.
Baker explored in-depth how markets work and what separates established marketplaces from those looking to solidify their place in their respective sector, alongside the do's and don'ts of the process. Attendees addressed topics of lead generation, site traffic, and how to best leverage advertisements; as the class went on, material shifted to customer engagement, and eventually the bread and butter of building a classifieds business, step by step.
The talk wrapped up with a guest speaker - Erik Backer, Founder, and CEO of Portal.Chat - whom Baker interviewed on the benefits of live chat for online classifieds sites. This was an example, Baker commented, of one of many tools which help grow a business and keep it running smoothly and at its best.
The MasterClass wrapped up with a wealth of information bestowed and plenty more conversations were initiated among the attendees on the topics which Baker addressed.
The Global Online Marketplaces Miami 2018 Summit will officially begin today, June 20th, with over 300 attendees, and nearly 40 world renown speakers presenting; three days of valuable information to be shared, networking to be made and business opportunities to be explored.
