European proptech startup focused on mid-to-long-term residential property rentals, Spotahome, has recently appointed Balaji Nageswaran as the company's new Chief Product Officer (CPO), becoming the company's first C-level appointment since raising US$40 million in a recent Series B funding round.
Nageswaran joins Spotahome from HelloFresh, the Berlin-based meal-kit provider, having engineered the product teams, and spearheaded growth four-fold to beyond 250 engineers in 18 months. As well as leading user experience market strategies for building customer acquisition and market penetration ahead of an IPO on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in November 2017.
As a former Head of Product Management at Amazon, Nageswaran has run next generation product lines and gained significant experience building fast-growth scalable business solutions. Balaji’s background in technical and engineering roles coupled with understanding the complexities of product management and meeting customer needs will help Spotahome address problems and strengthen the product offering and service that will support the overall commercial growth.
As part of the proptech’s European expansion, a London office will be opened in Q1 2019, where Nageswaran will be based. Nageswaran joins the executive team to form a new unit that will focus purely on product and user experience to optimize Spotahome’s conversion funnel. He will be working alongside Bryan McEire, CTO and co-founder, who will focus on scaling the IT infrastructure and back-end technologies to support increasing data intelligence requirements and user engagement. The Madrid-based firm recognizes the importance of leading from the front and Nageswaran's experience will streamline centralized product development to present an efficient marketplace for landlords and renters as part of the company's aspirations to disrupt the property rental industry.
