Louwman Group has been selling new and used vehicles directly to the Netherlands-based platform, Auto.nl, for over a year and a half. Already this year, over one hundred cars have been sold.
That says Martijn Bovée, general manager at Auto.nl , against Autoplus. 'We started testing last year whether there is a market for the online sale of cars. The fact that there is a market now clearly appears from our figures. ' In 2017, the counter stuck on twelve vehicles sold, but the growth is good. 'Our customers are not necessarily young and heavy internet users, but represent a broad reflection of Dutch society.'
Bovée provides a 'definitive turning point' for 2019, Autoplus quotes . 'Next year a webshop for cars is just as obvious as that for clothing or electronics (...) In 2020 we want to sell three thousand cars online with a maximum of ten employees. By making smart use of technology and automation, we create a scalable business model. '
Internet entrepreneur Marque Joosten launched Auto.nl in early 2011 in a joint venture with the Louwman Group , known as an importer of brands like Toyota, Suzuki and Lexus. The goal was to become the largest car dealer in the Netherlands, by offering twenty of the best selling cars. Using a configurator, visitors could put together cars that were involved through importers and dealers. Auto.nl acted as an extra sales channel for them.
