Gamjobs recently put together a skill-cultivating exercise for prospective hire talent, focusing on how to spruce up a CV and elevator pitch. The event took place at the American corner at Comium on Kairaba Avenue.
The event brought together over 30 participants from different areas and was taken through different steps of writing a good CV, and how to adapt a CV for different job positions.
Participants were also taken through confident building, making a good elevator speech and how to convince an interviewer. The chief executive officer of Gamjobs, Ebrima S. Dem, facilitated the training.
In his opening statement, Mr. Dem introduced Gamjobs services to the job seekers, including career orientation and CV evaluation. He also said Gamjobs is an online job finding platform through which employers search for top talents to hire. “In essence, they have a CV database of 2000 professionals that are qualified and ready to get job done,” he said.
He however lamented that the lack of CV writing skill among many Gambian applicants, especially young professionals has led to their unsuccessfulness in getting jobs. This he said reduces their access to job opportunities even though some maybe highly qualified.
