UbiGo, a Swedish-based company, uses MaaS in their mobile app to provide access to varying mobile services. Via ID recently announced that they have acquired a majority of UbiGo to help create different mobility options through Europe.
Via ID is a network of business accelerators that supports projects related to new mobility. The organization manages a portfolio of some twenty startups and companies positioned in this segment, including Heetch, Smoove, Ector, and Midas. To accompany the development of new forms of mobility, Via ID has just announced its acquisition of a majority stake in UbiGo.
"This acquisition of participation is obvious for Via ID because UbiGo is a pioneer in this market and it offers a complete MaaS offer (itinerary, ticketing, payment, reservation) with a very operational approach through partnerships with public and private stakeholders" , said Alexis Hue, Office Manager Via ID of Berlin, covering the Scandinavian region Mobivia.
Created in 2013, UbiGo offers a subscription plan to various transport services sometimes competitors. The Swedish startup has developed an application that covers the entire mobility path. With UbiGo the user can plan his trip, book the mode of transport he prefers without having to worry about ticketing or payment. Through the app, he subscribes to days or hours of use according to his needs. They can also choose the appropriate mobility services, from public transport to taxis to VTC services or self-service offers: scooters, bicycles and other electric scooters.
