For the third consecutive year, Red Cross Community of Madrid has held a new edition of the Autonomous Fair Employment Plan, an initiative that aims to improve the employability levels of the participants and their opportunities for employment, in addition to strengthening alliances between the companies and the Institution.

In this edition, the event has concentrated more than 270 people participating in the Red Cross Employment Plan in the Community of Madrid, 10 collaborating companies, and 80 people in the organization, including both labor and volunteer personnel.

The training activities developed in the meeting have been aimed at improving the skills of the participants when it comes to accessing a job. Thus, six workshops have been given simultaneously: "Frequently asked questions on labor-related issues", "Basic personal competences for employment", "Image and body expressiveness", "Tools BAE: video interview workshop", "New professions: Blogger to Instagrammer", and "Mindfulness applied to daily work".

On the other hand, a total of 162 people have had the opportunity to participate in express interviews with companies dedicated to the sectors of Logistics, Services, Hospitality, Food Distribution and Customer Service, to opt for logistics, hospitality, attention to client, concierge and cleaning, among others.

Among the companies attending the meeting and that have offered the opportunity to participate in this selection process in situ include Seur, Acciona Group, Brasa and Firewood, Kiwoko, Servicom and Golden Trac.

Other companies, such as Five Guys, have participated offering their knowledge in conducting workshops such as, for example, making videocurriculums.

3,500 people served by the Red Cross Employment Plan in the Community of Madrid

So far this year, the Red Cross has served through its Employment Plan to  3,500 people  in social difficulty, through projects to support self-employment, advice, training and collaboration with different entities.

The Employment Plan also carries out important intermediation work with companies that need professionals and are committed to providing an opportunity to those who need it most. To date, the Red Cross Employment Plan in the Community of Madrid has managed 255 job offers thanks to the involvement of  200 companies .

Goal 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

The intense work carried out by the Red Cross to eradicate inequality and social exclusion is linked to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations.

In this sense, the Employment area of the institution pursues the goal of complying with number eight of the SDGs: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all people.

Approximately half of the world's population still lives on the equivalent of about 2 US dollars a day, and in many places the fact of having a job does not guarantee the ability to escape poverty.

The continued lack of decent work opportunities, insufficient investment and low consumption produce an erosion of the basic social contract underlying democratic societies: the right of everyone to share progress. The creation of quality jobs continues to be a great challenge for almost all economies.

To achieve sustainable economic development, societies must create the necessary conditions for people to access quality jobs, stimulating the economy without harming the environment. There will also have to be job opportunities for the entire working-age population, with decent working conditions.
