Wunder Carpool, a ride-share startup company, recently announced they will cease their operations in Manila. The company sent an email out to their consumers stating “focus its resources in other mobility niches, in order to accelerate our vision of a better mobility ecosystem worldwide.”
Wunder’s operations will formally stop at the end of June. while its platform and support channels will be available only until July 12, 2019. The app will also be removed from app stores in the following days.
In case you didn’t know, since the local introduction of Wunder Carpool in March 2016, it has connected drivers and passengers for carpooling. Unlike with other transportation network vehicle service (TNVS) applications like Grab and Uber, Wunder drivers plot their daily route to work and pick up passengers along the way. These drivers do not make a profit out of driving other people. Passengers are also picked up and dropped off depending on the driver’s route.
Back in 2017, it was also reported that the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) reinforced a previously issued cease and desist order against Wunder Carpool.
