“European Internet Ventures is an advisory business exclusively focused on classifieds and marketplaces, we provide m&a advice and we provide capital,” explained Myers.
We asked Myers about some of the companies EIV has been involved with, “We have been m&a advisers for Scout Group before they were taken private. We have also helped raise capital for companies such as CornerJob, a jobs portal in Asia. Recently we have sold the world’s largest marketplace for machinery and tractors and trucks, with Machinio, and we helped the number one online marketplace in Kuwait which is called 4Sale,” he elaborated.
Myers has attended our conferences since 2012, and is a veteran of nearly 20 events so far, from Bangkok to Madrid, “What I really like about these conferences are two things: First off, the quality of people attending; they are the highest level. And second, since many of the presenters are from the online marketplaces’ companies, they share very interesting facts and figures, i.e.: how they managed to overtake a competitor, or how they created value in new segments, or through pricing, and so on. That’s a great combination for me,” said Myers.
When asked if any speakers captured his interest, this time around, Myers mentioned a few, “Of course, I enjoyed Simon and Jonathan’s wonderful overview of what’s going on in our industry. But, I also very much enjoyed the Recruitology presentation, which gave a simple explanation of how AI is being used to make very powerful matches between employers and potential candidates, I found that one very interesting.”
“For Pitch Club we had very interesting presentations, including one from the disruptive property transaction platform, KZAS.AI from Brazil, and a tradesman marketplace focused on paint in The Netherlands, ZRVCS, which seems to be doing incredibly well.
We hope to see Malcolm Myers in Madrid, November 12-15 for the Property Portal Watch conference.
