You’ve submitted your resume and heard back from the recruiter - you’ve made it to the first round of interviews. While making it this far is an accomplishment on its own, now comes the hard part. It’s time to buckle down and prepare for the interview that could be a make or break moment in your career path.

LinkedIn has found that 54 percent of job seekers say the interview phase is “moderately to extremely challenging” due to two reasons: uncertainty and lack of confidence. That’s why LinkedIn is starting to roll out a new suite of tools to help candidates prepare more effectively.

Prepare for the most common interview questions

LinkedIn helps give a head start on prep by identifying commonly asked interview questions. Thanks to LinkedIn's partnership with career experts, hiring managers, and professional recruiters such as Jenny Foss and Linda Raynier, experts were there to weigh in with their advice and tips.

Now users will be able to view short, easily digestible videos to learn how to approach each of these head-scratchers in the most effective way. Premium members will also gain exclusive access to expert-approved sample interview answers so they can see how they might approach the top interview questions.

Interview preparation resources are rolling out on the LinkedIn mobile app and desktop in English-speaking countries.

  • If candidates are on Desktop, they'll be able to access these tools within the job tab within the job tracker dashboard.
  • If candidates are on Mobile, they'll be able to find these tools within the job tab under applied jobs.

Practice Practice Practice.

More than half (52%) of successful job seekers in the U.S. spend time creating answers to tough questions they expect ahead of the interview. As part of new interview preparation tools, LinkedIn has included an easy way for candidates to privately practice answering interview questions, self-evaluate, and improve by reviewing recorded answers at convenience.

And this is just the beginning. Later this summer, LinkedIn will be releasing the ability for users to privately share their recordings with their trusted LinkedIn connections to get feedback, coaching, and advice. Users will have the opportunity to learn from their ideas, find new ways to translate experience into a particular role, and deepen relationships, making preparation and practice all the more valuable and meaningful. Working with a sounding board can also help them build confidence, tighten up responses and prepare for the unexpected.

Whether you’re looking for tips, expert answers to the top-asked interview questions, or a simple way to practice your responses, LinkedIn is there as a resource to research your interviewer or learn more about the company you’re interviewing with, anytime.
